At the Center, we use Modern Chinese as our text book. The series is divided into five levels. In addition, teachers will use various supplementary materials in class. As a rule, one lesson from the textbook will be covered every week, but this can be adjusted to the pace of the group if necessary. Students are expected to learn between eight and ten lessons per quarter. Every session comprises modules on vocabulary, grammar, oral comprehension, and semantic analysis, but will also leave some time for more free-ranging discussion of the topics at hand. Classes also incorporate video and audio materials to help students apply what they learn in class to their daily life in Taiwan. Homework and exams will be used to assess learning outcomes.  
 
We separate our Chinese class into eight levels. The estimated study time to complete a level is 180 hours. For grading standards and required levels of proficiency, please refer to the table below:
