 National Health Insurance

Qualifications

According to the "National Health Insurance Act, Enforcement Rules of the National Health Insurance Act," foreigners should enroll in National Health Insurance upon completing six full months of staying in Taiwan after obtaining their Alien Resident Certificate (ARC).

"staying for six full months" meaning the person has stayed in Taiwan for six consecutive months after entering into Taiwan with residency or exited Taiwan once for fewer than 30 days with the actual period of stay amounting to six months after the number of days that he or she has been away from Taiwan is deducted.

Required Documents

1. Application form

2. Passport and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

3. One 2-inch photo (3.5cm x 4.5cm)

4. NHI fee, NT$826 per month

 

※Important reminder: Before you leave Taiwan, please take the initiative to cancel your NHI at the NHI Administration.
Location

1. Please visit the District Office to apply for National Health Insurance.
After at least 7 working days, they will send you the National Health Insurance (NHI) ID card.
Then visit the Central Division, National Health Insurance Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare to complete the related procedure if needed.

2. Please visit the Central Division, National Health Insurance Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare to apply for National Health Insurance. You can receive your National Health Insurance (NHI) card a few days later.
